Pip Hoy
Pip is a mixed media artist who is currently focused on applying traditional techniques such as appliqué, embroidery and quilting to create a warm and engaging contemporary look using new, vintage and reclaimed compostable plant-based materials. Pip’s creative pursuits are underpinned by an interest in environmental wellbeing, personal stories, colour and repetitive mark making.
Pip is a third-culture-kid who has travelled and created throughout her life. As a young adult, creative aspirations were set aside in favour of pursuing an international corporate career. However, later in life whilst living overseas, she found an opportunity to nurture her long-held creative aspirations. Over the following years, Pip began to learn, grow and flourish as an artist. Pip returned to Australia permanently in 2017 where she took time to reevaluate the next steps in her creative practice.
In response to current global challenges, Pip is now committed to growing a sustainable art practice that reflects her desire to work from a place of active hope for the benefit of our collective future. She is currently focused on applying traditional techniques such as appliqué, embroidery and quilting to create a warm and engaging contemporary look using new, vintage and reclaimed compostable plant-based materials. Pip creates depth to her work by interweaving personal stories, colour and repetitive mark making.
Pip’s work is currently held in private collections in numerous countries including: Australia, Barbados, Canada, Ethiopia, the Netherlands, Qatar, South Africa, UK and USA.
