Course Description

Material Fee $65 paid to the tutor at the first class. Young artists are exposed to various art materials and art forms, including drawing, painting, printmaking and collage. Emphasis is on supporting young artists to be creative and confident while learning different art skills. New topics are introduced each term. About the Course: Have fun exploring a range of subject matter and techniques with a focus on developing technical skills, learning to understand and use the elements of design and growing our individual creativity. Hazel is a talented and supportive artist who encourages kids to explore and discover through experimentation and creative learning. She will introduce the children to a variety of art processes, with a focus on developing knowledge, problem-solving and instinct. Learn from a passionate artist in a nurturing and creative environment. About the tutor: Hazel has taught art to children in after school classes over many years, as well as being a cover teacher at secondary/high school where she taught teens. Hazel completed a degree in fine arts (1987) and has since enjoyed painting whenever she could find pockets of time whilst raising her family. She is inspired by the vibrant colours and forms of nature and enjoys creating in mixed media such as acrylics, water colours and inks, colour pencils and charcoal. When she is not painting, she enjoys yoga, walking, paddle boarding and spending time with her family.
