T1 Observing the Human Form - PM
All levels welcome - with Ian de Souza
Course Description
Working with a life model each week, the artist will guide you through a process for interpreting the human figure, firstly using charcoal, then progressing to pastels and other dry media. Acrylic paints are not used in this class. Life Drawing remains an essential element to a lively art practice and is equally relevant in a contemporary art context as it was at its genesis in the 13th century. As an art form, nude life drawing presents endless challenges to the artist. In the presence of a life model the artist attempts, through simple materials and sensitive gestures, not only to represent physical aspects of the figure but also embody within these marks something of the spirit and personality of the model. At the completion of this course you will learn to think differently to create uniquely.
