Course Description

An exercise philosophy designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, posture and overall body awareness. Floor classes are suitable for everyone, with beginners receiving extra support in the first session. Those with past experience will be able to work at a challenging level. If you are a beginner, please contact Tresillian staff after online enrolment so that we can arrange for you to have a 30 minute introduction session with Ailsa on the first day of your class. This first session will start at 9am for all beginners. About the Tutor Married with 2 children Dip App Sc. Optom 1981 Classical Ballet Rad 15 years Aerobics instructor (Achper qualified) Apma Level 2 Pilates Instructor 2006 - Presently studio work at Revolution About the Course The Pilates Class is based on exercises developed by Josef Pilates over 70 years ago. The emphasis is on working the body in its correct alignment and strengthening the core muscles, as well as lengthening the limbs and enhancing breathing. The course will introduce you to Pilates floor exercises, whilst teaching you the philosophy behind the method. The class consists of a combination of strength and stretch exercises on the floor. The benefits include increase in strength and tone of the abdominal muscles, improved posture, lengthening limbs, deeper breathing and improved alignment of the whole body. The exercises are all non-impact and are done to the level of each individual person and according to the advertised class level. Beginners will receive extra support in the first two sessions. If you are new to Pilates, please arrive 30 minutes early for the first session and the tutor will introduce you to Pilates fundamentals. Those with past experience will be able to work at a challenging level. Pilates is not suitable during pregnancy or for people with injuries. Medical clearance is required for post-natal mothers and for anyone with a back condition. What you need to bring Comfortable clothes in which to exercise, socks, exercise mat or towel.

Terms and Conditions

A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
