T4 Turtle Power – Clay turtle box
Ages 9-12 yrs 9.30- 12:30pm with Miya Maeda
Course Description
In this project, children will learn clay hand-building and joining techniques to create their own treasure box disguised as a little turtle. They will learn how to create a pinch pot to form the shell of their turtle and add a secret lid by sculpting and joining clay pieces. About your Tutor: Miya is a primary school art teacher with extensive experience in visual art and art materials. Alongside instructing children from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the joys of art, she's authored three art and craft books and produces art videos for her YouTube channel, 'The Virtual Art Room'. What you need to bring Please wear old clothes/apron. Drink and Snack Wear suitable clothing for doing artwork. Ceramic works will be fired and glazed, ready for collection within 4 weeks of the end of the workshop. Tools and equipment are supplied. The cost of firing is included in course fees. Tresillian Arts Centre endeavours to have all student work fired within 4 weeks of the end of School Holiday workshops. TAC staff will email ceramics students to advise when firing from the recent term is completed and available for collection. Please note that completed work will not be kept for more than 3 months due to space limitations.
Terms and Conditions
A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
